Saturday - Strongman

The day has finally come, the opening of the gym.

It began last January after I moved back to Denver from military orders in Kansas City. Just after New Years I began looking for a gym membership because the apartment's "fitness center" wasn't holding up (I still don't see how they can call 2 treadmills, 2 elipticals, a chest press machine, and a leg extension machine a fitness center).

I wanted a gym that had all the right componants; a squat rack, free weights, bumper plates, and room to grow! Unfortunately, I was extremely disapointed and found only one gym that offered free weights and a decent squat rack; no bumper plates, olympic platform, or room to roam like an animal. This was sometime toward the end of January and I was getting horribly frustrated, so I decided to open my own gym. I scoured the depths of Craigslist, contacted everyone I knew that might help me in finding good gym equipment, and searched high and low for a home. After two months of digging deep, physically, financially, spiritually, and mentally, I ended up with MBS Crossfit; a gym with just enough space to do every kick-a#$ workout you can imagine, at a very affordable price.

Tomorrow we are doing a strongman competition. Sometimes I think it is good to color outside the lines and just do something different and fun. Tomorrow we will be flipping tires, pulling sleds, lifting rocks, throwing sandbags, and lifting logs...for fun and for prizes.

Today's workout: Lift something heavy as many times as you can.

Post your lift and reps to comments.
